Can the Announcements also be populated in the student email of the university . In another LMS I used, one has the option to send the Announcement as an email to the students' university email account

Every user in Canvas (instructors, students, etc.) has their own notification settings that can be configured in Canvas. For example, you and your students can go to the "Account" >> "Notifications" screen in Canvas, and here is where you and your students can configure whether or not you want to receive notifications via e-mail address when announcements are sent. This is an individual user setting, so you cannot configure this for your students. Students set these options on their own. (Some students may not want to get notified via e-mail about announcements while others may want to get notified about them. The first two Guides are for setting these notifications for all courses, and the second two Guides are for setting these kinds of notifications at the course level.
