App Placement -- Assignment Index Menu vs Course Assignments Menu

I am looking at the Canvas documentation for app placements, at either https://canvas.instructure.com/doc/api/file.placements_overview.html or https://developerdocs.instructure.com/services/canvas/external-tools/lti/placements/file.placements_....

Does anyone know the difference between the placements that are named (and coded) as:

• Assignment Index Menu (assignment_index_menu)
• Course Assignments Menu (course_assignments_menu)

Both of them are within the same button in the "Assignments" area of a course (where the "Edit Assignment Dates" and "Assignment Groups Weights" options are) but the icons to the left of the wording is different (one is a "plug" and the other is a "piece of paper with an arrow pointing on it from the left").

I did reach out to Canvas Support but tier 1 and tier 2 were not able provide me with an answer so it is being escalated.

I received an answer from Canvas Support.

• Assignment Index Menu (assignment_index_menu)
  
  • this is the one with a "plug" as its icon
  • it will appear as a modal
• Course Assignments Menu (course_assignments_menu)
  • this is the one with a "piece of paper with an arrow pointing on it from the left" as its icon
  • it will appear as a slide out menu
