Assignment comments not showing on web interface (only)

I'm new to canvas, and just testing out speedgrader.  I notice that on one assignment (but not another, oddly), comments on the attempt show up on my ipad but not on the web interface.  They're there - I can download them - but I can't see them.  What am I missing?

This does seem odd and not the expected outcome. The good news, you have gathered all of the required information to report the problem to Canvas Support. You will want to connect with your Canvas administration team to have a case created or you can use the "Report a Problem" link in your instance navigation under the "Help" icon. If this option is not available to you, you will want to contact the designated Canvas administrator at your institution.

I had the same issue. The reason why this happened was this is a group assignment and you set the grades to be sent to the whole group not individually.

Solution: go to the assignment page> click on edit> under group assignment, there's a check box where you have to click on that says "assign grades to each student individually". That will make your comments appear again. 

Hope it helps, it's a weird issue though.

Thank you so much! It has been driving me nuts for years that I couldn't see TA comments without downloading the comments. Now I'm encountering a situation in which I want to change grades and delete some TA comments so it was essential to see them in CourseWorks, not as downloads.

Group Assignment comments are indeed there even when assigning one grade to the entire group, but you need to click on the link towards the bottom labeled "Download Submission Comments" to see those. I have no idea why Canvas does not fix this to show assignment comments for all group assignments just like individual assignments.
