Hello,
Hope your day is going well.
When I run the attendance report, it sends an email; however, I am unable to open the file. It says the page is not working HTTP error 500.
Any assistance is appreciated.
Attendance reports when downloaded and sent to your email have a 6 hour expiration time frame. Is it possible that you downloaded the report but attempted access post the 6 hour window?
A HTTP error 500 usually means a server disconnection of some sort. Likely due to internet connection or limited access to a particular content item. You can try clearing the cookies and cache for the browser you are using. Or try using a totally different browser altogether. Then try downloading the file and immediately open the link sent to your email.

I tried running the attendance report: How do I run Roll Call Attendance reports in a cou... - Instructure Community - 1023 (canvaslms.com). When I ran this in my own sandbox course, I got the report sent to my e-mail almost immediately. The body of the e-mail contained a super long URL filled with numbers and letters. But, I clicked on the link, and it downloaded a *.csv file to my computer which I could open in MS Excel.
If you continue to have difficulties with this, I'd suggest contacting the Canvas Help Desk staff. How do I get help with Canvas as an instructor?
I hope this will be of help to you. Sing out if you have other questions about this.
