Browser out of memory

Hello,
My univeristy's teachers are facing a problem with canvas: when working for a few hours, the browser will suddenly displat an 'Out of memory' error, and freeze all the canvas tabs.
We checked the memory usage of the browser, and it turned out to be rather big while having at least one canvas tab open. This happens both with chrome and with edge, both up to date and on a computer with 8GB RAM.
Teachers are also experiencing some quirks on the messaging section, as in it taking too long to load, and messages being mark as unread even though they have already been opened.
Is there any common cause to these problems? Or is there anything we could to to locate the cause for this?

I've never heard of issues like this before, but have you reached out to Canvas Support to see if they might have any suggestions?

Also, have you tried clearing the browser cache/history?
