I would like to give my final exam inside Canvas (as a quiz), and then download all of my students' answers on the final (my school administrators want a copy in case a parent has a question/concern about a student's exam over the summer). Is this possible?
One of the issues is that the classes are removed during late July, and sometimes issues don't come up until August, after which the class is no longer available.
Thanks for your help.

Solved! Go to Solution.
Hi Bob
On the quiz statistics screen, you can download a spreadsheet containing all student submissions:
Go to the quiz and click "Quiz statistics" on the right. When the quiz summary screen appears, click the "Student analysis" button at the top. This will generate a spreadsheet and prompt you to download/save it. There will be a row in the spreadsheet for each of the students who submitted. The first column will show the student's name, followed by a few columns with ID numbers etc then a column for each question showing the student's response to that question and the points they scored for it. The final column will show the student's overall score for the quiz.
Hope this helps.
No, it doesn't work with essay questions if "it truncates the student responses (essay questions) and replaces several responses with symbols." It does the same for me. Are we not allowed to ask essay questions anymore? This is a BIG weakness of New Quizzes!

This is for old quizzes only, correct? I do not see this feature in new quizzes.
Sandra,
Did you ever get an answer to this?
Michael
Yes that was for classic quizzes. The original question was asked in 2016 and New quizzes were not available at that time.
Someone else would have to answer about New Quizzes. or you may be able to find the answer in the instructors guide
Link to the New Quiz Section of the guide
I did a quick look and nothing jumped out at me for what you want.

Thanks for this response. I can get a basic spreadsheet, but it truncates the student responses (essay questions) and replaces several responses with symbols. Is there any way around that?
Thank you for the pointer. I had the same question, and it primarily goes back to pretty terrible UI design. The obvious place to look for downloading student submissions is the Grades screen, not the assignment screen. Even within the "Quiz Statistics" screen, it is not readily apparently that "Student Analysis" would be the place to download all student responses. Perhaps this is Canvas trying to force any and all activities to take place within their system by designing such counter-intuitive offline work options. If not, hopefully someone at Canvas will review these questions and recognize the counter-intuitive nature of their current design. Until then (and given the timing of the original and my message, don't hold your breath), thank you for helping those of us who couldn't readily fathom this bizarre access location.
Thanks, Steve!
The spreadsheet is awkward, but it works.

I suggest a feature be added to New Quizzes that allows you to EASILY download essay responses (e.g., create a report of all responses to Question 1) so that responses can be compared across all students.
