Canvas Discussion Issue

Hello, I am working on creating a Canvas course and am unable to set my discussions to “graded” – I get a red stop sign icon when I try to click the box. Is this a result of how I set up the course? Will I be able to have graded discussions? Thank you so much!!!

When I take the screenshot, you cannot see the icon but you can see they graded box is greyed out.  Thanks!

Thanks for sharing that screen shot, @jmurph18.  Is this only happening in this particular discussion topic?  If you were to create a different discussion topic, is the "Graded" checkbox grayed out there, too?  What about in another course?  Have you checked to see if it's happening there as well?  Also, is the course still running?  Has it started/ended?  Just trying to narrow down some possibilities.  Hope to hear back from you soon.

This is the same with all discussions within all courses - I am in the formatting stage and will enroll students next Monday. It will begin on August 14th. Thank you so much!!!

Hi @jmurph18,

Your screenshot cuts off the "Post to" box right above the checkboxes.  In order to enable graded discussions, the Post to needs to be set to all sections (when selecting the graded option, the post to will go away and be replaced by the Assign options at the bottom.
