Canvas Gradebook Keeps Reverting Score Back to Needs Grading

Hello and good afternoon,

I was working with a faculty member today who has a frustrating issue going on with their gradebook.

For several columns, she has input a grade for a student, but after inputting the grade, it immediately reverts back to the needs grading icon.

The solution has been to go into SpeedGrader for that student's submission and click Use this same grade for resubmission. 

Our question is why cannot she not just set the grade from the gradebook? Thanks for your suggestion!

@JordanGarciaNAU I don't want to appear patronising, but it is good troubleshooting practice to go through the basics first, so just wanted to check whether the instructor is ensuring they hit Return/Enter after selecting/inputing the grade.

Hi @VPundir. No worries at all. I masqueraded as this faculty member,  and I did attempt to press enter. When I click back on the "needs grading" icon, the score that I input shows, but it reverts back to the icon.

Hello @JordanGarciaNAU,

In my experience, this happens if multiple submissions are allowed and if the student made multiple submissions but the instructor has not graded the most recent submission.

Does that seem to relate to situation that you have described?
