Canvas not working in Chrome browser

Jump to solution

Canvas will not load in my Chrome browser.  It used to work just fine and still works in Firefox, but I get a blank white screen when trying to login through Chrome.

If you are not able to see this page in Chrome, I would recommend clearing your cache and cookies as well as browsing history.

Clearing cache on a PC
Clearing cache on a Mac

Another good step is to disable extensions by going to chrome://extensions/ and disable any extensions that might be installed. Also, we can try loading the page in a private browser window which should disable extensions as well. To do so in Chrome, that would be> option> New Incognito Window.

If these don't work, and you are still seeing issues, I would recommend reaching out to Canvas Support directly.

Hi  @avrudny   Sorry to hear about the problem you are experiencing.  I am using Chrome and Canvas seems to be working ok.  Have you tried since you posted the question?  It Canvas still not loading for you in Chrome?  I have found that sometimes it take a bit for a browser to download a page, particularly if the browser queue has been erased.  I experience this sometimes if my internet slows down temporarily as well.  Normally the problem resolves itself but if you are still having trouble you might contact Canvas Support and see if they have heard of any problems with Chrome.

All the best!

I've begun to have the same problem, too. It never happened before. First it began to happen when I clicked on Panopto Recordings. Then it began to happen when I clicked on grades. Today it's happening when I click on my mail box. The problem has been inconsistent but seems to be spreading and happening more often. I've added a screenshot.

Hi there, @ElinorA4004 …

You may want to consider reaching out to the Canvas Help Desk staff so they can help troubleshoot this issue with you further.  If you do contact them, please let us know how this was resolved for you … in case others have similar issues.  Thanks!

Hi, in the end I began using Microsoft Edge instead. At the beginning of the quarter it's hard to find time to resolve issues so I have to resort to quick fixes!

For now, switching browsers was the fastest solution. I realize it's a quick and dirty solution.
