I am not able to view any icons on the left side bar and don't know how to fix this problem.

Hi there, @JoshuaVu ...
I'm seeing other people at different schools experiencing the same thing. Not sure what the common thread is, though. Here are some things to try:
- Make sure you are using an up-to-date browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. What are the browser and computer requirements for Instructure products?
- Try clearing your browser cache/history...then close the browser...then re-start the browser...then login to Canvas.
- See if you can chat with folks at San Jose State University. I navigated the SJSU website, and I found the following page which may be of help: Canvas - SJSU - School of Information.
- Check with Canvas Support to see if they have any suggestions for you.
