Capping Grades at 100%

Hi,
we're implementing Canvas right at the moment and have trouble with the lack of an option of capping grades at 100%. I searched the forum and found one or two posts, but I don't find info, if this feature has been implemented or not.
Especially during roll-out we want to ensure, that teachers don't grad exceeding the grading limits.

As far as I know there is nothing in Canvas that can be used to cap grades at 100%.  I am guessing that you are considering the fact that teachers may give extra credit resulting in scores greater than 100%.  the only way I know is for teachers to manually cap it that way (If they have extra credit), or to have the maximum score possible in a class at 100%

As we are all new here, could you tellm e more about manually capping or setting the max score to 100%? Or du you have any further reading regarding these topics?
What we've done is setting every single assessment to max 100% as well as setting the total sum to max 100%. Still, 120% etc is possible in Speedgrader. Am I missing sth?

If an Assignment is worth 20 points.and a Teacher mistakenly types in 200 points, then the Teacher will get a warning message. That message pops up for any score entered that exceeds 100% of the total number of points.

However, there is nothing to prevent a Teacher from giving "extra credit" points. If the Teacher wants to give 25 points, then he or she can simply ignore the warning message.

The best way is to educate your instructors to check the scores and not give extra points. There is no mechanism to prevent them from giving scores over 100%

Sorry to bother you further, but could you specify in which context the pop-up should show up? I assumed while useing speedgrader, but there's no pop-up for me (attached screenshot). I can give as many points as I want without a warning. Could this be a bug specific to our version?

Sorry for troubeling you. I'm new to Canvas and really try to get into it.

What @SusanNiemeyer is talking about is a message box that pops up for grades entered that are too high - for me it is once 150% of the grade is encountered (this is directly in the gradebook - see the attached picture.  Thing is that box is up at the top of the gradebook view and not at the point of entry.  Plus, it does not last long.

The grade warning shown is for a score of 30 entered for newQuiz for the last student.  In speed grader for assignments, the message appears in the same spot when once again a grade 150% or higher is entered.  Hopefully Susan will chime back in with the message she is seeing and if it does occur when a grade higher than 100% is entered.

@Ron_Bowman  Yes, you are right. I Just tested this out on Speedgrader with an assignment worth 8 points. I triggered the error message when I entered a score of 12 points or higher. I didn't get the message when I entered a score of 9, 10, or 11 points.

Unfortunately, the pop-up doesn't show up for me. I will bring this up to our devs.

For informational purpose: I found that the Pop-Up works with grading in Points, but not when grading in percentage.
