Had a student complain that the due date for checkpoint discussions is off in their gradebook and it has the incorrect date. In modules it has the correct dates followed by the wrong one.
It shows correct when editing the assignment and in the to do list.
I created the 1 discussion question and then copied the others from it and modified the dates.
The dates in the discussions are correct it's just the gradebook and the extra incorrect date in modules.
It needs to ether be fixed or it needs to be able to be edited.

Hi @lawrence_rodis,
I do not have an answer for you. Have you reported this to either your Canvas team or directly to Canvas Support?
If there is an actual problem, Canvas Support would be need to be the one to resolve it.

We have noticed the same thing, @lawrence_rodis. When discussion checkpoints are used, there is no due date in the gradebook. Did you ever report to Canvas support? It's true in all our classes so I am assuming that this is just the way it works, although checkpoints are frequently updated.
I suppose they wouldn't know how to handle it. There is only one item in the gradebook, so which date should they use, post or response? We'd have to take a teacher poll.
The results of that poll would be interesting.

Here is my workaround for this. I'll state this works great for the todo list. For due dates in the gradebook it will show the date I put in for the non-checkpoint discussion which I set to the last day that I accept replies. The only issue I still have is initial posts can come late until the last date of replies. I'm okay with that as I zero out the initial post grade and tell then in comments why. It then allows the student to post replies which I then give grades for that section.
For initial setup
1. Setup due dates without checkpoints.
2. Setup checkpoints with due dates for initial and replies.
If this is a modification you need to:
1. Turn off checkpoints.
2. Make the initial due date change.
3 Create the due dates for initial post and replies.
Thanks very much for the suggestion, I appreciate it. But I've tried it in multiple ways and every time I enter checkpoint dates and save, the discussion date does not appear in the gradebook. It only shows the post and reply due dates which can only be seen by expanding the item.
Did you save every time you made a change? I tried it with and without saving and it made no difference for me. Darn. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
The students all see the post and reply dates in their to-do's without following this procedure, were you having issues with that?
