Have you tried reaching out Canvas Support to see if they would be able to assist you more with this error?
Before contacting Canvas Support, you might also try clearing your browser history/cache. Then, close your browser, and re-start your browser to see if you still get that error message. If so, then reach out to their help desk.

I asked the IT Help desk for assistance and they were great. Followed all their instuctions but still no luck. In the end they told me that my course didn't support collaborations and we should use Teams or Canva instead.
