Combined classes, how to have graded discussion boards

Hi,

I combined two sections of my course, which was super easy to do. I have a few discussion boards and it's easy to separate the discussion boards by section, but there isn't an option to grade the discussion boards if they are separated by section.

My class is small and students get to know each other so I prefer to keep the discussion boards separate. Does anyone know a work around?

Both the Grades page and the SpeedGrader can be filtered to show only one section at a time. Here are documents from the Canvas Guides showing how:

Thank you, Gregory.  My objective is to have the discussion boards separate, so each section is engaging with their classmates and not across the two sections. Is this possible?  It seems like the discussion board will include both sections but I can grade the two sections separately. Please let me know if I have this wrong.

Thanks for that clarification. In that case you'll need to create a separate discussion for each section. Luckily there's a Canvas Guides document explaining how:
