Hi everyone,
We've encountered an issue while attempting to import a course in the .imscc version 1.1 file format, which was originally exported from Canvas, into a different platform. Does anyone have any solutions or experience with similar scenarios?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Thank you @yknivas for providing that update. I don't know when Canvas will support the updated IMSCC version. There are two places to share that feedback. One is with your Canvas support team. The other is to submit a Canvas idea, which ought not to be necessary but is another avenue to bring this to the attention of Instructure's developers:
How do I create a new idea in the Instructure Comm... - Instructure Community
Creating an idea does not provide an immediate solution to the problem you described, though it is a solution. I’m going to mark it as such and hope that our colleagues who have a similar challenge will find the best way to contribute. If you decide to create an idea, please link it here so mode community members can support it.
Per the guidelines in the Canvas Guides document on course exports, a Canvas course is in the Common Cartridge file format. The webpage Common Cartridge | IMS Global Learning Consortium has details on the format.
You mention a different platform, so probably the best place to get an answer to your question is with the developers of that platform.
Hi ProfessorBeyrer,
Our LMS platform team has informed us that the course export file format from Canvas is currently in .IMSCC version 1.1, which is considered outdated. The platform supports .IMSCC version 1.2 or higher. Could you please advise if Canvas supports version 1.2 or higher for compatibility with other system?
