Hello Canvas Community,
I would like to ask if there is a way to create a midterm report for each course in Canvas.
What I am looking for is:
A way to summarize student progress up to the midterm point.
The ability to include categories of performance (assignments, exams, participation, etc.).
A space to add comments and feedback on each student’s improvement.
Our goal is to provide students with a structured midterm progress report that combines both their grades and personalized feedback from instructors.
Does Canvas offer a built-in feature to create such midterm reports at the course level?

Hi AliQahoush,
For now, Canvas doesn’t currently have a built-in Midterm Report feature, but you can make use of a few tools to track and share student progress effectively:
Export Data: Go to Grades → Export to download the gradebook file.
Customize: Open in Excel or Google Sheets, filter out assignments after the midterm, and add comments or notes.
Share: Save each student’s report as a PDF to share with students or parents.
Access: Go to New Analytics in the course menu.
View Insights: Check class performance trends or click a student’s name to see individual progress.
Generate Reports: Use Missing Assignments or Late Assignments reports and apply date filters to track midterm progress.
Access: In Grades, click the three dots next to an assignment → select Message Students Who…
Send Messages To:
Students who haven’t submitted
Students awaiting grades
Students scoring below a certain threshold
Hope this gives you a clearer idea of your options.
