I spent 30 minutes banging my head against a wall trying to figure out why I couldn't import grades for an assignment. I would download the gradebook, enter the grades for the assignment and upload it, only to get the message, "there were no changes detected in the gradebook you uploaded"
I found this post from 2021 that eventually figured out the bug is caused by an assignment having the word "final" in the name. It is criminal that 4 years later this bug still exists.
I'm starting a new thread since the old post was archived but the problem still isn't fixed. I'm hoping others with the problem will find this thread quickly.

Hi @patrick_culbert,
I have created a new assignment named "This is a Final Assignment". I then exported the gradebook to a CSV file, opened the gradebook in Microsoft Excel, entered values into its column, and imported the CSV into the gradebook. Below is a screenshot of what Canvas showed me. You can see that Canvas found the values that I entered.
I then created a second assignment called simply "Final" and repeated those same steps. Below is a screenshot of what Canvas showed me. You can see that Canvas found the values that I entered.
Based on my testing, I have not been able to duplicate a problem.
Have you reported this directly to Canvas Support?
