Problem Statement:
Some student discussion board submissions with graded checkpoints are not registering as submitted in Canvas.
This is evident to users in the following ways:
-
Student continues to see a "missing flag" on their grades page after posting
-
Instructor does not have the option to filter to their post from speedgrader (rather, the entire thread displays)
-
Within speedgrader - No Submission Time Available displays at the top where a timestamp would normally display
Approach to Troubleshooting:
-
Reviewed timestamps for all students experiencing this issue to identify a trend - none exists.
-
Reviewed method of user browser access - no commonalities
-
Acted as user and from the grades page, opened the submission and hit the "Submit Assignment" button - no effect.
-
Acted as user and attempted to both post a new reply as well as edit the initial reply - no effect
-
Planned to disable and reenable checkpoints, however, it does not look like this action can be taken after students have replied to the board.
Has anyone else experienced this issue and have you found a trend or solution?

Hi @BrittMoore1,
This definitely sounds like a bug to me. I'd encourage you to contact Canvas support to report these if you have access. While we can provide some advice and help here in the Instructure Community, it's mainly a user-to-user help space so we can't actually do anything for system bugs like Canvas support can.
I haven't heard reports of these issues at my institution, but I don't think we have a lot of faculty using Checkpoints yet. I thought I'd at least say that since nobody else has chimed in yet.
I hope this helps!
