Are all campus emails filtered through Canvas, or will I also need to login to check my email on outlook?

@AliciaCeaser ...

The Canvas Inbox is not the same as regular e-mail.  It is a messaging tool where you can message your classmates and instructors who are enrolled in the same Canvas courses that you are enrolled in.  The Inbox is not a place where you can send a message to your friends and family ... because they are most likely not enrolled in the same Canvas courses that you are enrolled in.  Similarly, your friends and family cannot send you a message from their own e-mail system (Outlook, Yahoo Mail, Gmail, etc.) and expect that you would receive a copy of it in your Canvas Inbox.  If your friends and family e-mail you, you'd have to check those messages in your own e-mail account (Outlook, Yahoo Mail, Gmail, etc.) ... not within Canvas.

You can, however, set up your Canvas account to get notified via e-mail when your classmates or instructors send you a message via the Canvas Inbox.  That is all done through the "Account" >> "Notifications" screen within Canvas.  And, if you go to your "Account" >> "Settings" screen in Canvas, you can add additional contact methods on the right side of the screen...such as a personal e-mail address.  Then, return to your "Notifications" screen, and you will see additional columns where you can choose how often you want to get notified via those methods.  All the notifications about the Canvas Inbox will be listed under the heading "Conversations" within the "Notifications" screen.

Hope this helps a bit.  Sing out if you have any other questions...thanks!
