Hello all. Our dev instance of canvas has become well poluted over time and we need to clean it up. I'd like to be able to go into people and export a list of students and instructors so they can be reviewed for removal. Does anybody know how I might accomplish a task like this?
You can generate a list of all users (and enrollments, courses, sections, etc.) The Provisioning report is one of many standard reports under Admin > Settings > Reports. There is more information on those standard reports at https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Resource-Documents/Canvas-Default-Account-Reports/ta-p/387...
@JeffHuettman ...
If you are looking to just export a list of enrollments for a single course in Canvas, you can do this by exporting your Grades page or running a roster report in New Analytics. However, neither of these reports include any instructors in the course...only students.
You might want to go with @mzimmerman's suggestion if you're looking to get a listing of instructors, too. Good luck!
I too am looking to clean up our account as I've been tasked with reviewing our Canvas invoices and billing structures. Our courses are mostly open-ended with no terms and we don't have an SIS - accounts are admin- or user-created directly in Canvas. None of the standard reports in the information linked above provide the range of data I need. How do I create reports showing:
1. For *all* users: date of first Canvas access, date of most recent Canvas access, course enrolments, enrolment date/s, course role
2. For *all* enrolments: date of enrolment, date of first activity, date of most recent activity
We have 63 courses and several hundred users (how do I even just export the full 'People' list so I don't have to click through 96 pages?!) so it's not feasible to run reports user by user or course by course
Hi @WendyQLS ...
I'm not sure if you'd be able to get all the data you were looking for via this method, but as a Canvas administrator, you can go to your "Reports" tab to run a variety of reports.
How do I view reports for an account?
Some of the reports you might want to look at might include:
Hopefully you'll find some data there that will be helpful to you.
I'll let others here in the Community chime in as well...as they may have other solutions for you that I'm not aware of.
Good luck!
