I have created a staff skills survey using the Canvas Quiz tool. I them made my own custom grading scheme to assign a 'Tier' to a particular score from the quiz.
The tier shows up fine in the gradebook.
But when I come to export the gradebook it reverts back to a number:
Surely this should not be the case?
I am not sure if I need to turn something on/select an option, but the last thing I want to have to do is recreate the gradebook again..
Any help gratefully received, even if it is to tell me that this is what I should be expecting...
Thanks

Hi @GideonWilliams,
While it's perhaps not called out explicitly on the How do I export grades in the Gradebook? - Instructure Community - 809 guide, the terminology "scores" is used extensively there, which I think is meant to reference numeric grades. As far as I know, all grades in Canvas are actually stored numerically in the back-end, even if you're displaying them differently (i.e. letter corresponding to a grading scheme). I think the export is meant to be more of a database-dump situation rather than a replication of the UI view, and therefore I do believe it's expected to see all numeric scores. Some kind of option to download the gradebook as shown in the UI would be interesting, but would likely have to be a feature idea at this point.
Anyone else is free to comment here if I've said anything incorrect!

Thanks so much @chriscas , I am just surprised that it has not been mentioned before. I did try to find similar comments in the community before reaching out. A UI download would be ace, saves replication....
