Group assignment using external tool

I have a tutor who has a group project type assignment.  

Setting the assignment to be a group assignment, that's OK, next we want to use the Turnitin external tool for the submission type, but when we do that it informs us that the group assignment type will be unchecked.

Is there anyway to fix this?  I doubt it but want to be 100% certain.

Hi @ian10,

As I recall from years ago when we used the Turnitin external app, it wasn't possible to do group assignments.  We have since them moved over to using what's called the "New plagiarism framework" Turnitin integration instead of the external LTI.  This integration allows for group assignments to work correctly, but you don't get access to Turnitin's peer review or grading tools (if you have those, which we did not).  I'd recommend looking in to this integration depending on your needs and Turnitin subscription type.

After the set up, how do I now create the tunitin group assignment in canvas?

Hi @EmmanuelMache,

If your school/institution is using the plagiarism framework Turnitin integration, you'd create the assignment in Canvas, check the option to make it a group assignment, and also select Turnitin from the plagiarism detection options.
