How can I turn on the Discussions/Announcements Redesign feature flag?

Hello! 

I would like to receive notifications for when I am mentioned in a Canvas discussion or there's a reply to my post. 

I have already turned on notifications under the Discussions section to "Immediately" (green bell icon). However, I don't wish to receive all activity immediately, only individual mentions.

When I hover over New Mentions in the Discussion Section, the message appears: 

Discussion Mentions are only available for courses or accounts that have the Discussions/Announcements Redesign feature flag turned on.

How do I find this feature flag to be able to turn it on?

This could be at the user level (you) or the admin level (your entire institution).

Your level:

1. Go to your course's Settings page and select Feature Options.
2. Look for the related option to turn on and switch it.

If no option exists, then likely at the admin level. That means reaching out to whomever manages Canvas for your institution. This feature was on by default, but someone at the admin level can lock it down so you cannot change it.

Hi @Barbara2027,

The Discussions/Announcements was enabled for everyone in July 2024, so it's no longer a feature just part of Canvas (the wording you found in notifications probably was an oversight that should have been modified back in July).
