How do I allow students to see the class discussion page?

You control which areas are visible to students in the course navigation menu by going to Settings > Navigation.  See https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-manage-Course-Navigation-links/ta-p/102... 

Be aware that if there is no content in a particular area--no forums in the Discussions area, or no quizzes in the Quizzes area, for instance--then that area will not be visible to students even if it is enabled in the course navigation menu.

Something to consider if you make the "Discussions" area of your course visible to students is that by default student in a course have the ability to create their own course discussion topic.

If you do not want students to be able to do that, I would recommend (and I wish this guide was titled in the opposite way, to not allow) reviewing How do I allow students to create a course discussion? - Instructure Community - 996.
