How do I leave private notes on a student's assignment?

I'm a writing instructor teaching a class where students are required to give peer feedback. However, I would like to leave private feedback for each student. How do I accomplish this?

@MarnieG The comments you make for each student either by annotating on the document or in the comments field box are private between you and the student.
