I accidentally imported "copy a Canvas course" & imported the entire course. Is there a way to undo that import so I will not have duplicate everything?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Unfortunately, there isn’t an “undo” option once a Copy a Canvas Course import has run. When the entire course is imported, all content is duplicated into the destination course.
Here are a few options you can try:
Delete duplicates manually – You can go through the course and delete the duplicate items (pages, assignments, files, etc.), but this can be time-consuming.
Reset course content – If it’s still early and you don’t need to keep anything else in the course, you can go to Settings → Reset Course Content. This clears everything out so you can start fresh and re-import only what you need (using the Select specific content option).
Check with your admin – If the course already has student work or activity, resetting isn’t safe. In that case, reach out to your Canvas admin for help restoring the course to an earlier state.
For future imports, I definitely recommend using “Select specific content” so you only bring over what you need and avoid duplicates.
Hope this helps!
