As an instructor, is there any way to view student' quiz answers when "student results view" is restricted?
The students can't see what they got wrong, but I would like to see what questions my students got wrong.
Thank you.
Allison

Hi Allison,
Restricting students from viewing their results has no impact on whether or not you can see the results as an instructor. Quiz results are available through Speedgrader. See https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-grade-quiz-questions-in-SpeedGrader/ta-...

What if it's a "practice quiz"? Are students' responses (e.g., free text entries) lost forever if it's a "practice quiz"? I had started using practice quizzes for attendance for a couple of sessions, at the same time collecting feedback from the class -- but it looks like I'll have to use "ungraded survey" quizzes and ask them again, unless there's any way to retrieve the submissions?
Hi @choppingm
Hi mzimmerman, Thank you, I had missed that item, hidden on a hamburger menu. However, this doesn't really help me: I have more than 90 students in four classes (sections) and -- as with other lists in Canvas, such as Announcements -- there's no way to move elegantly through the list. For each student, we have to retrace our steps to the list and select another element. Moving forwards / backwards through lists is something taught in Human-Computer Interface 101 in comp. sci. classes -- at the undergraduate level. We could ask Canvas LMS to make our lives easier with implementation of this simple change -- but I have a feeling I have already done this. No effect! I would love to hear why it's so hard to implement proper list management.
It is definitely a pain that there is no way to view individual results to a practice quiz on Speedgrader and/or provide feedback to students on there. It defeats the purpose of a practice quiz! I am having to download the report and use mail merge to efficiently provide this feedback. Except that any special characters used by the students like "" or '' do not properly show on excel, which is an extra pain in the neck!
You could simply make it a standard (not "practice") quiz but make it worth 0 points, so it is visible to you and the students but has no impact on the grade.
