After copying a course that contained LTI content I am receiving this message. "Import Error: Assignment - "Respond: Analyze the Text [Ode to enchanted light]" Import Error: Assignment - "Respond: Analyze the Text [The Drought]" Import Error: Assignment - "Respond: Choices [Never Retreat from Eyes Wide Open]" Import Error: Assignment - "Respond: Choices [Ode to enchanted light]"
What would be causing this?

Hi @HortonShine2,
Without having access to your Canvas environment, this one is going to be hard to give solid info on. My first guess would be that your new course is in a different Canvas subaccount that the original one, and may not have the same 3rd party LTI integrations available. My next guess would be that your institution upgraded the integration from an old version to a new one recently, and the content will need to be re-linked through assignments to work with the new version. I'd suggest asking someone from your school/institution Canvas team (usually located in the eLearning / IT / Digital Education areas) whether they have done any changes lately. You could also have them take a look at the error to do some troubleshooting with you. We in the Instructure Community can offer a lot of guidance on Canvas LMS and other Instructure products, but digging into issues like this is hard because we are just other users from around the world, and do not have any direct access to your course or Canvas environment ourselves.
I hope this post provides a direction for you to move forward on this.

Hello, and thank you for your reply. This course was not in a different subaccount, and it uses the same LTI integrations. We also have not upgraded anything recently. I took a look at the errors and found that the error was only a warning and the assignment was copied and fully functional in the copied course. However, due to the nature of this project, the administration would like to find out where the errors are coming from so we can have an error-free product. I hope this draws a better picture of the issue.
Since an LTI is a link to an external tool outside of Canvas, an error with an LTI is not really something that can be diagnosed without knowing what tool or service it's connecting to, and how the LTI is configured.
What external tool are these assignments linked to? If you go to Settings > Apps in the course, do you see the App/LTI for that external tool? Do the assignments function properly in the course that you're importing from?
We are using the HMH Ed Lonking Tool
New: "When attempting to copy a course using the 'Copy this Course' feature, an error occurred: 'An issue occurred during the course copy operation. Please reload the page and try again.'". Please adivce.
Hi there, @abubackar ...
If you are experiencing error messages when trying to import/copy course content, I would suggest that you reach out to Canvas Support to report the issue. That way, they can log a ticket for you, and they can help to look into this further for you. If you click on the "Help" icon on the left-hand global navigation of your school's Canvas environment, you should have some links...one of which might be to "Report a Problem". This is where you can submit a ticket.
How do I get help with Canvas?
Hopefully you'll be able to get in touch with someone soon. Good luck, and keep us posted. Thanks!
