Is there a feature where I can either post an announcement or email to all of my courses?

I sometimes want to email the students in all of my courses a reminder... For instance a reminder that class is cancelled on monday because it is a holiday. Or a flier to an important on campus event.

Is there a feature to post an announcement and check which classes I want it posted to or which classes I want the email sent to?

It is laborious and cumbersome to post something to each course or to have to email every course the same thing.

I know a Canvas Admin can make an announcement that can go out to all courses in an account and I believe sub-accounts.  However, I am not aware of an instructor being able to send emails or announcements between courses.

I think the best option if it is the exact same message between courses is to use the Copy to feature within announcement.  This should allow you to post your announcement to one class and then with the comment open easily and quickly copy it to all of your other courses.

 

Click on Announcements in the Navigation menu.  Locate and click on the announcement you wish to copy.  Then click the three dots to select Copy To.

we have two different approaches to this .

1) we have Canvas community sites based on Award level enrolment, which are managed separately to the unit of learning (Canvas Course) so typically Award leaders can email everyone in the Award - differentiation by year group is achieved by creating separate Canvas sections, or sometimes Groups

2) we move the community sites into a Sub-Account sub-structure and use the account level announcements that @ryan_corris mentions. This allows, for example, Bachelor and Masters in a discipline to be messaged at the same time, even though they are in different Canvas Award level courses. We also maintain a School level site for cross-discipline postings on the same basis. -  Award level enrolments are fed from our SIS via our middleware.
