I want to create an 8 question quiz and only have questions count off 3 points a piece. When I set the question points for 3 points it count off more that that. I want them to be able to miss one question and make a 97. Right now if they miss one, it gives them a grade of an 87. Is there a way to do this?

Here is a workaround to consider. Add a trivial ninth question worth 76 points to your quiz (e.g. a multiple choice question "Did you take the quiz?") that students can easily answer correctly to get the baseline/minimum/free points. 76 points will complement the 24 points from the 8 actual questions and yield 100 total points.
Hi @EricaConley
It seems like you are confusing actual points and percentage correct.
If you have 8 questions in the quiz, and each question is worth 3 points, then the total points possible for the quiz is 24 points.
With 8 questions, every question counts for 1/8, or 12.5% of the overall grade.
If a student misses one question, they lose 3 points, so they get 21 points out of 24 points possible, or 7 out of 8 questions correct, which is 87.5%
If you want students to lose only 3% when they miss a question, and get 97% correct, then you need 33 questions in the quiz.
