Link to a rubric in a page

Semester-long project are introduced at the beginning of the semester. Students read a page which gives instructions for the project. At the end of the semester, students submit the project using an assignment. I want students to see the rubric when the project is first explained. To do this, I copy and paste the rubric and add it to the page. It's messy, but it works. This is ok, but when the rubric changes, I must remember to update the page. Is there a way to simply give link to the rubric from a page?

@burdicks I do not believe you can link to the rubric directly since the rubrics area is only available to people above the student role (designers, TAs, and Teachers).  What I do is link to the assignment so they can look at the rubric there (I attach all the rubrics to the assignments for grading).  The rubric shows without them having to do anything other than open the assignment screen so giving them the link to the assignment is essentially giving them the link to the rubric.

Thank you for the response. That is a good idea except in many of my courses I lock down access to future work (should have mentioned that). Students can access future modules 2 weeks in advance, but that isn't soon enough to view the rubric. 

I would like rubrics to have view only access for users. (provide a link to a specific rubric rather than the entire Rubrics area)

I tested out what @nwilson7 mentioned and that is correct - you can easily create a link to a rubric, but students can't access it.

I did have a thought.  Why not create a dummy assignment that has "rubric for final assignment"  Put that assignment wherever students can access it and attach the rubric to it.  keep modifying the rubric (from the rubric link) as necessary.  Then when you are set to release the actual assignment, select the rubric for it and get rid of the dummy assignment.  Just be sure to initially create the rubric from the rubric link and then select it for the assignment.  This may take some playing around with to get it right, but it is a possibility(in theory)

@Ron_Bowman  Your idea of a dummy assignment would probably work great...if I was the teacher of the course. Because I am building the course for others, the dummy assignment is a little tricky. I try not to ask adjunct instructors to do much editing, and certainly not to "get rid" of assignments. 

By the way, I wouldn't call this a "solution." This is a rather involved work-around.

A work around is all that I was suggesting. I would not count it as a solution either.  I tried the idea out and it worked fine.  you would not have to delete the assignment per-se, but it would probably be confusing to have two assignments (related) once the official one opened up for viewing.  A typical user would not have issues with setting it up, but as you state for your situation you need it as simplified(less confusing) as possible.  Good Luck

I have the same question.. Apparently this is not possible.  What I've ended up doing is posting as an "external link" t he URL to the page for the specific rubric in the course.

Not sure why a direct course link isn't possible, and seems like it would be simple to implement....

Hi Chip, Congrats! I received an email today calling your workaround the "solution" to this issue. Seems like Instructure has decided that workarounds from 2022 now qualifies as a resolution and nothing further is needed.
