Does locking announcements keep students from seeing them?

All my announcements from last quarter were carried over, which is great, but I don't want to go through 30-odd announcements and delay publication. Does locking keep them from student eyes? And if not, what purpose does the lock tab serve?

It would seem to be a flaw in Canvas to not have an easy way to block the carried over announcements. I'm sure a tweak could easily be established.

Publish and Unpublish Announcements -- I raised this issue back in 2015, @RobotBoy76, but no action has been taken. Perhaps add your voice to the others on the feature request? Maybe one day it will be implemented.

What does the 'lock' button do?

I'm fairly sure the lock button just prevents students from replying to the announcement (Announcements in Canvas have a lot of the same features as a Discussion ).

I brought up this issue years ago and nothing has been done. It seems like there could be such a simple solution.

No answer is likely to be forthcoming. If you're new around here, you might have yet to notice that customer service is not their forte. Besides, what would the people who use their software all the time have of value to say about it?
