Missing Annotations

I had a teacher complete annotation on a group of papers and now the annotations are gone.  Students have not resubmitted.  Both teachers added comments that are still available within the assignment, but all annotations are GONE! - am I missing something?  I went into our beta server hoping to see if they could be restored but no annotations appear on the paper.  I have 3 teachers verifying they were added to this group.  Is there some setting to hide annotations? Help!

Something to check. If they go into Speedgrader and can see the annotations, do they have a Checkmark/Trash icon in the upper left corner? If yes, have them try clicking on the checkmark, then have the student refresh the page to see if it shows up. If it does not show those icons, or the student cannot see it after refreshing, please share that here.

That is very odd! Sorry that you are running into this issue. 

To confirm, there is not a setting that would hide the annotations that were added, if they were done in Speedgrader. 

Were the annotations done in something such as Google LTI assignment? If so, there appears to be an open known issue HERE that is impacting External annotations in the DocViewer. 

It's worth noting that If you start to make an annotation but do not submit it before the session expires, the annotation will not be saved. Submitted annotations are saved and are not affected by the session limit. Canvas will display a session expiration warning at 9 hours 50 minutes, followed by a 5-minute and 1-minute warning until the 10-hour limit has been reached.

The annotations were done in Canvas.  The CD and curriculum coordinator have identified the dates they were available but have now disappeared.  In Canvas it appears that nothing was ever entered.  I have an open Canvas ticket.
