Last year (May 24) I made lots of video guides using Screenr and saved as mp4.
They were fine when I last used the course but now each of them is missing vital controls on the player, particularly the magnify icon to play full size!
Its done this to every single one of the videos - over 20!!!
Its as though the toolbar and video has been cut off?
I've got other videos from the same source I made earlier this year that are fine -
I wonder if it has to do with the original size I had these at. I have made them this way as I split the page into two columns. When I edit the page and look at the Video options I get this message:
The original videos were taken with ScreenPal and I choose the screen dimensions. Reducing this No amount of changing to the write dimensions has brought back the remaining part of the toolbar.
I wonder if that is what is going on, I'm pretty sure there isn't a fix and I need to reinsert all the videos
Thanks
UPDATE: Resinstalling the videos have no effect (other than the pixel dimensions were OK) :O(
Solved! Go to Solution.
Reporting it to Canvas Support is in the best thing then because they will update you when they have more information.
While it is not something that my institution has experienced because we have activated the "Disable uploads to Canvas Media from the enhanced rich content editor" setting (we are Canvas Studio customers and have not experienced it), it is my understanding that there have been side effects related to the changes that took place recently.
I hope that it is resolved soon for you and others.

Hi @GideonWilliams,
I do not have an answer for you but I have included @AkosFarago. Akos is the Product Manager of Canvas Studio and has been working on the updated media player that was documented in the release notes at Canvas Release Notes (2025-04-19) - Instructure Community - 637511 .
Have your reported this to your school's Canvas team or directly to Canvas Support?
@AkosFarago, are you able to help?
-Doug
Hi @dbrace I have indeed, most strange.. and hopefully not terminal! I will look at the release notes thanks.
Having looked, thankfully the keyboard shortcuts work for me although many students have ipads..

I received notice from @AkosFarago in a few other places (for example: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Question-Forum/New-Media-Player/td-p/640798) and a fix will be deployed).
