It would be great if an assignment group had a place for the project description / instructions (like a page or description text area) without having to add an ungraded assignment for this purpose. It's a hack workaround.
Usually, I would have the larger project description overview, then smaller assignments within that project. I know I could use Modules this way, but they are more confusing to students and are a bit messy.

@YvettePerullo This sounds like a great idea. You should think about putting it in as a feature idea: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Ideas/idb-p/canvas-ideas.

Just a quick note on this, as I ran across this thread while doing some community maintenance. While you as the instructor might view the assignments page with Assignment Groups, students might only view things by date (especially when working form their to-do list). Even though modules might be slightly more complex, they do help to ensure that both you and students see similar things in the order you intend, which is not possible just using the Assignments page.
