Multiple correct answers for a multiple choice quiz?

Is there a way to make multiple answers correct in a multiple choice question?  I accidentally gave two correct answers and two incorrect, but I can only seem to allow one at a time for full credit.

Yes, it seems that you are able to do this by using the "Vary Points by Answer" option when creating multiple choice quizzes.  You just need to divide the total amount of points for the question by the number of correct answers.  Is this what you are looking for?

Thanks for the reply! I have already created the quiz, and the students have already taken it. I noted after that I gave two correct answers in one question. I honestly don't see the "Vary Points by Answer" option anywhere. Does it have to be used when creating the quiz, because it is already done. Thanks for the help!

Yes, so the "Vary points by Answer" appears when you are actually building the quiz (see below). You can have several correct answers listed.  However, the students can only select ONE correct answer.  

What might help you more in the future is the "Multiple Answer" type of question.  I completely forgot that this existed!

It looks like a student must select all "correct" choices to get this type of question correct.

I was hoping to make any one of multiple answers be correct answers. (It's a poll question, so there is no "wrong" answer.)

In case this turns out to be a source of confusion, Canvas currently has two separate quiz tools, and rpsimon‌ is providing instructions for the Multiple Answers question type in New Quizzes. If you're using Classic (Old) Quizzes, you won't see the ability to vary points by answer; it was developed expressly for the new quiz tool.

Is there a solution to the previous question? In New Quizzes I see how I can vary points and create a question with multiple correct answers, but I would like my students to just have to pick one of the correct answers to get full points. Anyone figured this out??

Same.  I need multiple answers to be correct but only have the students choose one of the correct  answers.

Same. There are answers that I need to consider when originally I thought that there was only one correct answers among my choices. This option should be made available to "Multiple Answers" question types to not force students to check all.

As usual, this post is two years old with multiple instructors saying, "this is important. Hello? Hello?" and no response from Instructure. I am consistenly surprised how unresponsive this company is.

I, too, would be very interested in a solution. I have been offering a quiz with questions with points, then adding the survey questions with 0 points assigned. Unfortunately, the students get a negative response for all but one answer. 

How many hours last week did you devote to this class? The answer has 0 points so it is just a survey and does not impact quiz grade. Multiple choice a)0-2 hours b)2-4 hours c)greater than 4 hours

This lets me have sort of a survey.

This question is marked as answered, but it isn't actually solved.

The original poster had a quiz and then later went back and wanted to update the key to accept more than one answer. It takes SAT, College Board, and other entities years sometimes to craft quality multiple-choice questions. As teacher teams, we do our best to create perfect assessments, but sometimes, we have corrections after the students have taken a quiz.

I want to accept that a characterization answer B AND C for equal points and update the key. This should automatically update the scores for students who selected EITHER B OR C as an answer choice.

Microsoft does this.

Zipgrade does this.

Every other assessment platform I've ever used has this functionality.

Please, please add this option. We're not asking for a question with multiple correct answers. We're asking for a teacher to be able to adjust a key after a quiz is given and have scores update automatically.

If you are wanting to see functionality changed within New Quizzes, one way to do that is to submit a Feature Idea here in the Community website.  That page is located at: Canvas Ideas - Instructure Community.  You can also find some linked documentation on the right side of this page on how the process works and how to submit new ideas.

Nowadays, you can use the Remark (or Regrade) option to do this: it is not done at the quiz creation level, but in the Speedgrader. You can choose to Remark, and then select the "other" correct answer. This then allows you the option to keep previous responses as correct, as well as marking the new option as correct. It isn't perfect, but I think it would achieve what you want. It is worth noting that it only updates scores on all submitted quizzes (future submissions need the remark to be applied again).
