Multiple sessions on same assignment using Respondus

Hello,

I'd like my students to be able to use two class periods to write a full literary analysis essay while using the respondus lockdown browser with Canvas. Respondus says this is a canvas issue. Does anyone know how to set up an assignment so students could work on the same assignment for two class periods (and see their work from the first session)?
