Thank you for contacting the Instructure Community. We're sorry to hear you've been experiencing issues with your submission disappearing. Were you typing directly into a reply or submit box? If so, it may be lost and need to be redone. It was likely your internet browser and we recommend clearing the cache and cookies or trying another browser.
In Chrome
On your computer, open Chrome.
At the top right, click the three dots
Click settings
On the left, choose Privacy and Security
Then, clear browsing data
At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time. I suggest at least 4 weeks
Next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes.
Click Clear data.
I recommend typing anything longer than a couple sentences outside of your submission directly as it relies on your browser, device, and network to not have any disruptions for it to upload to Canvas servers. It's usually a browser or a network that timed out which can cause it to be "lost" Sometimes, there is an auto-save depending on the school and course and assignment, but if you don't see it - it is safe to presume that it is gone unfortunately.
