Observer To Do List and Student To Do do not match

Why does the observer to do list and the student to do not match?  I can see all of my child's assigments; they cannot see any?  This is a HUGE problem.  I'm not sure if it's a setting.

It looks like there are no courses visible on the dashboard.

I don’t know why it does this, but I figured out how to get where I wanted to go. Each time we login as either student or observer, we have to click into a course first that has to do items, and then when we go back to the dashboard, all of our to do items will show up there. The same thing happens with the calendar.  when we first login there are no items listed in the calendar until after we open the course and then go back to the calendar. It looks like there is some stateful session that is used when we login. It is not updated to show items in our to do list or calendar until we actually go into a course and back out again.

Well that is good that there is a method to get what you want.  However, that is not normal behavior for Canvas.

if you are not opposed to it, there is an extension(if you use chrome or firefox) called "tasks for canvas"  - you may find it useful in helping with the to-do list view.
