I am the Canvas person at my institute and I cannot find the answer to this problem.
I am trying to find out why only one teacher in a course can see only their students' total grades. Other teachers in the course, including myself, can see all the grades for all assignments graded. Only this one teacher specifically can only see the totals for all assignments graded.
After reviewing this one teacher further, it looks like she has the same limited view in all three of the courses she is teaching in.
Has the teacher who sees the total column but cannot see assignment columns in Grades tried to view it using a Private or Incognito window in their usual web browser, tried to view it using a different browser, and made sure that their web browser is updated to the current version? Outdated browsers, cache problems, and interfering extensions might all explain what sounds like a display issue.
Incognito or using multiple browsers does not impact the view of grades. The teacher cannot see a normal grades' page, nor can I when I act as the user, regardless of server or incognito.
I have submitted a ticket for support yesterday, so I am waiting to hear back from them.
Hello @irissolis
That's very odd - it could be something with their actual account. They're listed as "teacher" only and no other type of enrollment? In this case, it is probably best to speak with Canvas Support directly. They should be able to look at the specifics of the user, the course, etc. Hopefully they have an answer for you soon.
Thank you, I have reached out to support and am still waiting to hear back as to what may be the solution.
Did you ever get this figured out? I am having this issue now with 1 TA in the course. The other TA's in the course can see everything, but one has the same limited view of only the total.
Hello amcase,
This case was eventually moved up to Level 2 support, but faculty stopped responding to Canvas support emails so the matter went unresolved. We never discovered the issue and faculty did not reach back out to us.
Sorry, an explanation was never shared with me.
Iris
I would start by having this teacher check gradebook filters.
Are they filtering to a period with not assignments for instance?
Corrupted browser cache is another possibility...
Can you masquerade as the teacher in question
