Hi! How do I erase the profile picture i once uploaded. I have erased it from "files", but it's still showing on my account. When i try to edit my profile it only allows me to switch to another pictur. Help pls I want the anonymous grey thing to show instead.

Strangely, I tried to delete my own Canvas avatar image that I had added to my user profile via my personal "Files" area, and it would not let me do so.  And, I could not find another way to delete the image from my Canvas profile.  So, I suppose what you *could* do is to do a Google search for something like "generic avatar".  Then, after you hit "Enter" on your keyboard, select the "Images" tab at the top of the search results.  Find something that looks similar to what you'd like for your avatar.

I was looking into this situation - even though @Chris_Hofer did to - and I have some comments based on contacting Canvas Support (case 12987482) about this. There are five ways to deal with this, sometimes on top of each other:

1. follow the guidance in the  How do I add a profile picture in my user account? - Instructure Community - 615332  support article and its "Delete Profile Picture" section
2. have a Canvas admin follow the guidance in the  How do I manage a user's login information in an account? - Instructure Community - 232  support article
   1. while it is not specifically mentioned, there is a "Remove avatar picture" option that is shown in a screenshot
   2. in my opinion, on a widescale, this is not feasible)
3. have a Canvas admin follow the guidance in the https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Admin-Guide/How-do-I-manage-profile-pictures-for-users-in-an-acco... support article (in my opinion, on a widescale, this is not feasible)
4. contact Canvas Support (depending on the institution, this might have to be done by a Canvas admin and not an individual user) and ask them to clear that Canvas user account's cache (this is a cache that is not specific to a Canvas user account's device or web browser but on their Canvas LMS system itself)
5. upload a new profile picture (following the same steps in #1)

While not an exact answer, this may help you and/or others in the future.
