Pronunciation quiz

I am hoping to create a pronunciation quiz or speaking assignment within Canvas with a question prompt and an audio response.  I want my students to be able to respond with an audio recording within the app (not upload a recording). Does anyone know of a way to achieve this within app or use another app integration?

You should be able to allow students to record right in the quiz. First, as you are creating your quiz question you'll want to enable to Rich Content Editor in the Options dropdown.

Then when the student is taking the quiz, they'll be able to click the multimedia link and select Upload Image.

This will display a popup window where they can 1. click on the Record tab (instead of the Computer tab), 2. Click on Webcam and select No Video - unless you would like them to record a video of them pronouncing the work, which might actually be a pretty good approach, 3. If they have multiple microphones then they'll want to select the one they would like to use.  

With all that taken care of, they can click the big blue Start Recording button.

When I create a quiz it doesn't look like the picture you have and my Options heading does not include a Rich content editor.

Also if they need to upload media in the last screen shot, why would they upload image in the previous screenshot?

When posting questions about quizzes, it's a good idea to specify whether you are using New Quizzes or classic Quizzes. I no longer have access to classic Quizzes and thus can't post any images, but this Canvas Guide might be helpful:

I believe @DrNufer meant to say "select Record/Upload Media" and point to the play button icon. I think the images are from New Quizzes. If you are using classic Quizzes, your interface will look different. But the Rich Content Editor is consistent across content types and should allow you and your students to use the audio tool to record. The guide posted above is targeted for "essay" questions but also mentions using audio.

Thank you. I did finally get it to work. Unfortunately, there are so many steps to this method it creates a barrier to access for my ESL students who have very limited English. It would require me to include 6 screen shots in each question for them to navigate it. That is super annoying and may create reduced engagement.

Now compare the functionality of Quizizz an app that does not work with my limited Canvas teachers edition. The icons are super easy to understand and there are only 3 steps to answer the question. In addition, you can change the language under settings.
