How do I assign a graded discussion to a course group?

Why are students able to post to the main discussion rather than just their groups discussion when I create a discussion assigned to groups only?

I setup group discussions as described above. Some students appear to be posting in the main discussion area, outside of their group. When they do that, their posts don't show up in speed grader.
