Same person being admin at faculty and student at another faculty

Problem: Admin in sub-account A is a student in courses contained in sub-account B. When viewing the course calendar for the courses they take in B, they see the instructor view, not the student view. In our case they see events tied to specific sections, even though they are not a member of any sections in the course.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Add person as an admin to a sub-account A
2. Add said person to a course with calendar events tied to course sections in sub-account B, where they have no admin rights
3. Go to course calendar and see section specific events show up

At my institution I used one account that was a super admin and also a teacher.  Due to wires being crossed, we ended up splitting it into three separate accounts - two professor accounts (different schools on different subaccounts at the same education system) and one admin.  It stinks for me to have multiple usernames and passwords, but it was the ideal solution in our case.

@Marit_Midtun1  I agree with @DrNufer that having separate accounts is generally the way to go as the admin account will always trump any other role.  I am curious though what exactly you mean as I am a root admin (top level) and I do not see any calendar events for anything I am not part of.  You have to be enrolled at some level/role to see calendar events.  I am also trying to figure out what you mean between the teacher and student view in the calendar.  The view would be very similar with the exception of being able to move the events around as the instructor.  Do you perhaps have a screenshot?

This person was first hired to work 25% at a faculty. She then afterwards started as a student at another faculty. Then the wires got crossed. Enrolled as a student she sees every group activity in the calender, just like teacher or admin would do. We solved it by giving her an additional account. Made a fake one for the admin-job. She told us that her collegues also are both admins and students but they don't have the same problem. Maybe because they were students before they got the admin-job?

it sounds like the different roles and permissions were getting crossed. i just wanted to add to this some bits of information I have discovered over time.

I know that it is recommended by Canvas support that if a user is an admin, Student, TA, and/or Teacher that they have separate accounts setup for any of those roles and permissions. Since the admin role has a higher permission set, Canvas will do it's best to sort out what they should be able to do and see. However those roles can sometimes clash, causing issues such as this. 

Most schools will setup an account for a users admin permissions, an account for testing student/teacher related stuff, and even sometimes an entirely different account that is strictly a teacher role. (This is not always necessary since a user can have a student and teacher role with one account)

Separating the different users accounts (Admin/student/teacher) ensures that those roles are only showing them things that pertain to that role's permission set. 

It sounds like you were able to solve this, which i'm glad to hear!
