Sharing Sounds on Music Programs & Videos?

Hello Canvas community,

I am a music teacher using this system for the first time. The conferences are generally successful with my students except for one important feature: When I share my screen with my students and we look at music software and music programs on my desktop, my students cannot hear the sounds. When I share videos to watch with them and analyze the music scores together, they cannot hear those either. Is there a setting I missed somewhere that would enable them to hear what I'm hearing so we can work through our music together?

Thank you for your help,

Hi  @rross1  Welcome to the Canvas Community.

Good on you for branching out and using conferencing with Music.

If you are using Big Blue Button then, as far as I know, if you put the link to the video in the conference then the students can watch with sound. This helps towards different bandwidth at students houses. But a simultaneous experience is tricky.

If you use teams meetings built into Canvas there is a small box to tick 'include system audio' if you need sound. Do this when you share your screen.

Sing out if you need a hand.
