Tracking Users by Course Code

Hey all,

We're looking for a way to track where a user came from. We have users from many different schools who take our courses, and we need to be able to identify who joined from which school. The best way to do this, so we thought, would be if there's a way to issue multiple different course codes for the same class in Canvas. That way we can look back look at which code a student entered via and know which school that is associated with. Is this possible?

You can view user details to see when the user was created using this document. 

You could try viewing the user's page views to see what course they first viewed, you can list the user's page views using this document. 

How do I view the page views for a user in an account?

Thank you for the reply. However, that wasn't exactly what I was looking for.

Say we have One Canvas course and we have different five distributors (schools) of the course. Students may be joining the course at any given time from any of these five distributors. We are needing to know which one of the five distributors the student was referred to the course through. They all have to create a new account to join the course, and because many use a personal gmail.com address, we are unable to track it that way.

The thought is that each school, for example, "School 1" can give out a course code like "COURSE-01" and "School 2" can give out the code "COURSE-02". These course codes would both need to allow entry into the same course, but involve tracking that would allow us to see where the student joined from.
