Unable To View Video Due To Privacy Settings

I am a student who is unable to view the first video for my course at Oregon State University, Public Speaking 101.

It says that the video cannot be displayed because of it's privacy settings. The screen where the video should be is black, and says "Sorry. Because of it's privacy settings, this video cannot be played here."

I have contacted the course professor. He says he will look into it and get back to me. However, I just wanted to rule out the possibility that this is some kind of technical problem on my end (Unlikely, since this happens on my personal computer, my phone, and my high school-issued computer). The high school IT tech looked into the latter (I am taking a postgraduate program at the high school, hence his availability to help). I am not sure what he did, but regardless, he was also unable to fix the issue.

What more can I do?

I am guessing that the video you are referring to in your course might look something like this?

If that's the case, then I am assuming that your instructor had embedded a Canvas tutorial video into your course that used to be hosted on the Vimeo website.  Recently, Instructure (the folks that make Canvas) transitioned away from having their tutorial videos on Vimeo's website, and Instructure is now using their own Studio platform to host these videos.  By chance, do you know what the subject matter of the video was about?  If so, you can probably find the video by going to this page:

Video Guide - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com)

So, in summary, if your instructor was intending on linking to a Canvas tutorial video, I can almost guarantee that this is not a technical issue on your end.  Rather, it's a matter of your instructor needing to fix links on his/her course pages that have tutorials like this from Instructure.  You might want to pass along the following link to your instructor to let him/her know about these recent changes...as my guess is that your course isn't the only course at your school that might be using Canvas video tutorials in this way.

Are you saying I can no longer link videos from YouTube of Vimeo to my assignment?  I have to us Studio?  If so, that's truly lame.

No...I think you've misinterpreted my reply to @AubreyJRutledge.  Instructure (the company that makes Canvas) used to house their tutorial videos on the Vimeo website.  However, now those videos are all hosted on their own product, Canvas Studio.  These videos are all embedded in Canvas Guides such as this one: Discussions Overview (Instructors).  You don't need Canvas Studio in order to view those videos.

If your school has purchased Canvas Studio (you'd see a "Studio" icon on the far left-hand global navigation menu within Canvas), you can add videos from the following three sources:

• by uploading or recording a video that you've created yourself
• from Vimeo
• from YouTube

You can then embed the videos you've added to your Studio library into your own course.

Again, what I was referring to above was the Canvas video tutorials that are available here in the Community...not about Vimeo and YouTube.
