Unable to print course certificate Very Poor Design

Hello:

Once we complete the Canvas' Maryland Heath and Safety course, unless you download the certificate immediately, there is NO PREVISIONS to download/print your course certificate later after course completion, notwithstanding the fact that this course is compulsory by the State as a condition of employment in a child care center. Canvas does not send the certificate of completion to the student's email address, just a link--which expires. This is a fundamental and egregious fatal design flaw as despite the fact that we have successfully completed the course, we are unable to get our rightfully deserved certificate of completion.

Thank you for contacting the Instructure Community. We're sorry to hear you've been experiencing issues with downloading and viewing your certificates. While we understand the frustration that comes with not getting an emailed version of your certificate, that would best be brought up with your school or institution. Many schools have different methods for administering certificates of completion. If you do not get an email by default, that would be because the institution didn't set that up. Speaking with them directly may be most beneficial. You are welcome to speak with Canvas Support as well who can help navigate the course and perhaps the certificate is there as Canvas doesn't have any expiratory certification that must be downloaded when first viewed, or it is gone. Try using your internet browser to print the certificate if there is no copy provided directly to you.

For example,

1. On your computer, open Chrome.
2. Open the page, image, or file you want to print.
3. Click File. Print. Or, use a keyboard shortcut: Windows & Linux: Ctrl + p. Mac: ⌘ + p.
4. In the window that appears, select the destination and change your preferred print settings.
5. Click Print.

Thank you for your prompt and verbose response. Unfortunately we cannot access the course once completed and there is no record of us ever taking the course other than the history posted here below:

In addition, here is a direct quote from the email that we received from Mr. Eric Hughes

"...Be sure to print and/or save your certificates. Here's why:

* MSDE will NOT keep a copy of your certificate. To offer the course for free to providers we do not have or save certificates. Saving copies of thousands of certificates created in Instructure would require MSDE to charge participants for the course. You want a copy just in case you or your employer loses your certificate.* You will need to register for and complete the course again in order to receive a certificate of completion..."
