I have a Canvas shell that's a decade old and am wondering which of the files are actually still being used, and where. Is there any way to go to the Files page and find out this information (such as: a list of pages where the file is referenced)?

Hi @checkma,
Canvas doesn't have anything built=in for this task exactly. There is some good news though, especially if you happen to have some funding available and are an administrator (or can run this past your Canvas admin team). There is a third-party tool called TidyUp, developed by CidiLabs, that is pretty much designed to do exactly what you need. I'd recommend that you check it out.
I hope this info is helpful!

@checkma ...
I second this suggestion from Chris! TidyUP is great when it comes to file clean-up. When I worked at a technical college back in Wisconsin, we had TidyUP, and it was useful when I needed to do file clean-up on a course (as a Canvas admin).
At my current employer, we don't have TidyUP, but we do have Simple Prep (which is a product from the same folks at Simple Higher Ed who make Simple Syllabus). They have a new tool in Simple Prep that has some of the same functionality of TidyUP, and we are just getting our feet wet in how to use it.
