Why can't we use CTRL key to send email to some students?

I find today when I want to send an email to some students in classes, the CTRL key no longer works for selecting a group of students.  Why this inconvenient change?

Hi @EleanorBinnings, 

I received a few questions about this and found that our product team is working on restoring this functionality now. The fix is planned to be released on  9/13.
